Unfortunately, the North Bay site was cancelled to due air-quality concerns relating to the recent North Bay wildfires (so some of those teams competed at the South Bay site instead).

East/South Bay Novice Tournaments (Oct 14)

The first high school quiz bowl tournaments of the year in the Bay Area will be the annual Fall Novice tournaments on Saturday, October 14; registration is now open. The South Bay tournament will take place at St. Francis HS in Mountain View; the East Bay tournament will take place at Berean Christian HS in Walnut Creek. Schools may compete at either site but will probably want to attend the site closest to them. These tournaments are not qualifiers for either of the high school quiz bowl national tournaments.
Eligibility: Players who have previously competed at any HSNCT, NSC, or have played on a team that finished t-13 or better at any MSNCT must receive permission from Jeff (jeff.hoppes@gmail.com) in order to compete. Students who are ineligible to play are strongly encouraged to help staff.
New for this year: we will have a separate division for middle schools only at the South Bay site (using the same high school questions as the high school division). Middle schools cannot play in the high school division at either tournament. Middle school teams that are new to quiz bowl will find this tournament challenging (and should instead play at tournament #3 below).
Registration for the South Bay tournament takes place on the NAQT website here.
Registration for the East Bay tournament takes place on the NAQT website here.
