Fresno HS Tournament (March 10)
The Northern California Quiz Bowl Alliance and Fresno State are pleased to announce that Fresno State will host the first Fresno Quiz Bowl Tournament for High School Teams on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
Location: This tournament will take place at California State University, Fresno. Check-in will begin at 9:00AM, we will have a lunch break in the early afternoon, and we hope to finish by 4:00PM. We will have a field cap of 12 teams.
Questions: We will be using NAQT IS-173A.
The top 15% of teams will qualify for the 2018 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament, to be held in Atlanta in May.
Eligibility: All high schools (public, private, charter, religious, homeschool, etc.) are eligible to play in this event.
Schools are encouraged to enter multiple teams, but please note that players must play for the same team throughout the tournament.
Fees:
Base fee: $50 per team
-$10 for second and subsequent teams
-$10 per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
Payment will be taken at check-in on March 10.

California Cup #4 is taking place on Saturday, March 3 (location TBA). Registration for #4 will open following the conclusion of #3.

Bellarmine Winter Tournament Results
Congratulations to Crystal Springs for winning the Competitive Division, to Saratoga B for winning the Standard Division, to Saratoga C for winning the Novice Division, and to Team Almaden A for winning the Middle School Division at the Bellarmine Winter Tournament on Saturday! Thank you to Bellarmine and Mr. Fleitas for hosting and to all of our excellent staff for making the largest tournament in NorCal history a success! Results can be found here.

Sacramento Spring Middle School Tournament @ Sylvan (Mar 17)
The Northern California Quiz Bowl Alliance and Sylvan Middle School are pleased to announce that Sylvan will host the Sacramento Spring MS tournament on Saturday, March 17, 2018. This tournament will feature a JV division (for new(er) teams) and a Varsity division (for more experienced teams). Registration will begin at 9:00AM and we plan to start round 1 at 9:30AM.
Location: This tournament will take place at Sylvan Middle School, 7085 Auburn Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA.
Questions: We will be using NAQT Middle School Series #26. (For practice material similar to the questions we will use at the tournament, please consider the NAQT New Middle School Package).
The top 15% of teams will qualify for the 2018 NAQT Middle School National Championship Tournament, to be held in Chicago in May, 2018 (only teams playing in the Varsity division are eligible to qualify for MSNCT).
Eligibility: All middle schools (public, private, charter, religious, homeschool, etc.) are eligible to play in this event. This tournament is open to any players who have not yet completed 8th grade, though the questions are targeted at 7th and 8th graders.
Schools are encouraged to enter multiple teams, but please note that players must play for the same team throughout the tournament.
Fees/Discounts:
Base fee: $70 per team
-$50 for schools that played zero quiz bowl tournaments during the 2016-2017 school year (per team)
-$10 per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
-$20 per staffer (We will hold a brief training session during check-in for those volunteers who have never kept score before.)
-$20 if your school successfully recruits a new school (see definition above) to compete (per team from such school)
Schools from Nevada will play this tournament for free.
Minimum entry fee: $0
Payment will be taken at check-in on March 17.

Bellarmine Winter Tournament (January 13)
NCQBA and Bellarmine College Prep are pleased to announce that the Bellarmine Winter Tournament will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018. This competition features separate Competitive, Standard, Novice, and Middle School Divisions.
Location: This tournament will take place at Bellarmine College Preparatory, 960 W Hedding Street, San Jose, California. Check-in will begin at 8:30AM and we plan to start round 1 at 9:00AM.
Questions: We will be using NAQT Is-168 for Varsity and Standard, NAQT IS-173A for Novice, and NAQT MS-24 for Middle School. Schools that compete at the 12/2 da Vinci Tournament and the 12/16 Sunol Tournament cannot play in the MS division (but can play in the other divisions).
Schools are encouraged to enter multiple teams, but please note that participants must play for the same team throughout the tournament.
Fees/Discounts:
Base fee: $70 per team
-$40 per team from new schools (defined as having played zero quiz bowl tournaments during the 2016-2017 school year)
-$10 per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
-$20 per experienced moderator
-$10 per scorekeeper

Location: This tournament will take place at Laguna Creek HS, 9050 Vicino Drive, Elk Grove, California. Registration will begin at 9:00AM and we plan to start round 1 at 9:30AM.
Questions: We will be using NAQT Is-172 for Varsity and NAQT IS-169A for JV. Schools that competed at the 10/14 South Bay Novice Tournament cannot play in the JV division (but can play in the Varsity division).
